Baker-Berry Library offers lockers for students and scholarly long-term study rooms for the Dartmouth community. See if these services are right for you.
Lockers
Store your books and other personal items easily. We offer lockers for all Dartmouth students. If you're another Dartmouth affiliate, inquire with our Circulation Desk staff for consideration—depending on availability.
Steel Lockers:
- These lockers have combination locks. You'll receive the combination at the time we assign you a locker.
- Lockers are available in the following locations:
Rules
- All library materials stored in a locker must be checked out to your library account.
- Items stored in your locker must be checked out to you and renewed when due date approaches.
- Libraries staff retain the right to periodically inspect locker contents. We will return any library materials that are not checked out back to the stacks.
- You may store your personal belongings in the lockers (except food and beverages).
- Food and beverages are not permitted in the Baker-Berry lockers at any time.
- If a library item in your locker is recalled, you will still be obligated to return the item by the due date specified on the recall notice.
- If the locker has a key, you must keep your key connected with its barcoded tag. Both key and tag need to be returned to the Circulation desk when vacating the locker. A replacement fee of $25.00 may be applied if the key cannot be checked in due to a missing barcode tag.
- You may forfeit locker use privileges for failure to follow the rules listed above.
Libraries Responsibility
- Locker assignments are confidential. We will not share your name, locker number, or combination with anyone.
- In case you forget your combination, we'll provide the combination only after checking your ID against the list of locker assignments.
- If you've forgotten your key for the cabinet lockers, we will not open your locker for you.

How to Apply
The Libraries accept applications on a rolling basis. We recommend that you submit an application at least one month before the term you wish to start, as there is often a waitlist for these studies. We cannot guarantee applicants a space.
Submit your application via email to:
- baker.circulation@dartmouth.edu or
- in person at the Baker-Berry Library circulation desk.
Usage Guidelines
- Room assignments are typically available on the first day of the assigned term.
- Thesis studies are shared by two occupants to better serve the graduate and undergraduate population.
- Those who have not had a study before will be given preference over those that have.
- Room assignments are for the approved occupants only and may not be shared with a non-approved occupant.
- After your room assignment ends, you'll need to renew your application.
- Visiting scholars must have official appointment letters and be eligible for Dartmouth Libraries usage privileges.
- Students: your assignment is valid for only one term.
- Faculty: your assignment is valid for one term or one year.
