Learn how to place library materials aside for term-based course reserves.

library staff work with new books in the acquisitions department

In the lead up to each term, you'll receive an email from Libraries staff reminding you to submit course reserve requests.

  • Please submit your requests well in advance, so our staff can process everything before the term starts.
  • Use the Faculty Course Reserves Guide to build your class lists and place course reserve requests in our online system.
  • You can copy any lists for future terms.

How to Submit Reserve Requests

Faculty can use the Libraries' self-service tool to build lists of content for a class, including materials that the library owns or subscribes to as well as other content that you may want to include.

Reserves are accessed from within your Canvas course by selecting "Library Reserves/Guides" from the left navigation.

Please refer to the Faculty Course Reserves Guide for step-by-step instructions.

Personal Items

Faculty have the option to place their own materials on reserve as a personal item reserve. Baker-Berry, Feldberg, and Sherman Libraries accept personal items. Learn how to place your items on reserve in the Faculty Course Reserves Guide.

Please note that the Biomedical Libraries does not accept personal copies to be placed on reserve.

Purchase Requests

If we don't own the item you need for your reserves list, we will purchase it. Please contact your subject librarian to request new materials.
