Make a variety of books at the Libraries, from traditional hardcover journals to pop-up books. A member of our team is always here during Open Studio sessions to help you create your book.
With sessions taught by one of our staff and or a visiting artist, the Book Arts Workshop offers several classes for different bookbinding techniques. Workshops are limited to eight people. Please register in advance.
In addition to learning different binding styles, we also offer training and help with Book Arts equipment.
- Board Shear to cut large sheets of paper.
- Book Presses to compress or stabilize books and parts of books during gluing or flattening.
- Guillotine used for cutting many sheets of paper.

Discover an array of vintage presses for printing metal and wood type in the Letterpress Studio. Options include alphabets for:
- Cyrillic
- Cherokee
- Hebrew
- Greek
- Arabic
- and accented type for French, Spanish, and German.
We even have math type! You'll also find various relief images to use along with a photopolymer platemaker you can use to create relief plates from computer files.
Workshops
To begin your Letterpress journey, you must attend an orientation session. During orientation, you'll learn how to use our materials and presses. Once completed, you're welcome to visit the studio any time during Open Studio hours.
Our equipment includes various presses for printing different types of projects, such as posters, coasters, books, greeting cards, business cards, and more.
Book Arts Workshop also offers printing and image and text-making workshops. We usually limit these sessions to six people. Please register in advance.
