I am the only Black person in the entire boathouse at Dartmouth College currently. As a walk-on in a sport that is extremely homogenous, I am inspired by Arshay’s vulnerability and bringing an unheard perspective to the sport of Rowing. He is a mentor of mine whom I work alongside at the George Pocock Rowing Foundation, and has been a shining star in the sport for many communities who have never had someone to look up to that looks like them.

I am an Anthropology Major and Environmental Science Minor. This fall I will be enrolling in the Inaugural PhD Cohort at Duke’s Population Health Sciences Department. Hoping to work at the intersection of Cardiovascular Health Disparities, Media, and Health Policy.

I worked for 2.5 years as a circulation student assistant at the Baker-Berry Library. Additionally, I was one of two undergraduate student representatives for the Colleges “Council on Libraries”.

I was interested in public health research before COVID, but it has been interesting to see a public health emergency grasp the entire globe at a transition point in my lifetime. Despite how awful COVID has been, I am optimistic about the opportunity that I must illuminate some of the issues that our system exacerbates for marginalized communities.
