BIOGRAPHY

Theodora Wheelock Phelps Young was born on May 23, 1736, in Lebanon, Windham, Colony of Connecticut. Her parents were Eleazar Wheelock and Sarah (Davenport) Wheelock. She was married to Alexander Phelps on February 9, 1752, in Hebron, Hartford, Connecticut; then to John Virgil Young on April 27, 1777, in Hanover, Grafton, New Hampshire. In Eleazar Wheelock’s will, Theodora and her sister Ruth were bequeathed "the house and lot of land lying in Lebanon Crank," and “the rights of Land in Bridgewater” to be equally divided between them. In March of 1769, Theodora wrote to Eleazar, asking to borrow Dinah, an enslaved person. It is estimated that she died around 1811, at the age of 74.
