From her impoverished childhood in Indochina to her involvement with the Communist Party, Marguerite Duras lead an extraordinary life, and she was not afraid to embrace the differences that gave her a unique perspective in life. She resisted the moral and literary norms of her time to embrace intersectional struggles and to elevate the feminine voice. Her confidence in her identity feels like a breath of fresh air in an ever-globalizing, monotonically sun-kissed world.
