Fall Term refresh enhances accessibility and user-friendliness

We’re kicking off the Fall Term with some much-anticipated changes to the Dartmouth Libraries website! This round of changes continues on from, and advances, the work that was started in 2022 to update and refresh our website. The website transformation expresses a collaborative, modern, and bold design centering the user experience and aligning with accessibility standards. This transformation acknowledges and embraces who we are, who we have been, and who we are becoming. It also highlights the Libraries’ position as a collaborator and partner within a research-intensive institution, connecting the Dartmouth community to knowledge, to each other, and to the world.

To quote Steve Jobs, ‘Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.’ The redesign of the Libraries’ website embraces this statement. Updated navigation and accessibility features improve the user’s experience as the subtle home page refresh signals a dynamic, ever-changing website providing the latest information from and about the Dartmouth Libraries, and our role in research and learning. - Jennifer Taxman

The Fall Term refresh is part of our ongoing process to align the Libraries’ voice and tone across all our pages, and restructuring format to improve readability.

None of this would have been possible without the remarkable tenacity of our content managers and contributing writers/editors. The content managers worked intensely across the summer to help get us to this point. Their work also contributes to and prepares us for the larger website updates coming Winter Term. We also thank the members of the Digital Library Technologies Group, the project’s Governance Group, and those who have given and continue to give us feedback and engage in user testing.

Thanks again to everyone who played a part, no matter how much, in helping us meet this ambitious milestone.
