BIOGRAPHY

Jonathan Trumbull was born on October 12, 1710, in Lebanon, Colony of Connecticut. His parents were Joseph Trumble and Hannah (née Higley) Trumble. He married Faith Robinson on December 9, 1735. Trumbull became the governor of Connecticut in 1769, and served in this role until 1784. On August 28, 1775, Eleazar Wheelock wrote to Trumbull offering the services of a “mulatto” youth from his school to go among the enslaved in the South to prevent a rebellion. Trumbull died on August 17, 1785, in Lebanon, CT.
