Bill (Billy)

Very little is known about the man named Bill, also referred to as Billy, beyond that he was one of the several people enslaved by Eleazar Wheelock and put to manual labor at a Wheelock property in the Colony of Connecticut.

Bill was also used as a source of income. Account-book entries ranging from 1745 to 1748 show that he was hired out to a local farmer to assist in harvesting crops and slaughtering animals. Beyond this glimpse of Bill’s life as an enslaved person, nothing more is known.
