We're here to help you navigate the world of sponsored projects. Our team will provide you with comprehensive support to ensure your research complies with data-related guidelines.

The world of sponsored projects can be complex, especially when it involves intricate data management and sharing. We are here to provide comprehensive support, ensuring your research complies with data-related guidelines from federal agency sponsors, like National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Energy (DOE), and with private foundations.

Data Management

  • Data Management Plans (DMPs): We assist in creating thorough and compliant DMPs to meet your project requirements, setting your research off on the right foot.
  • Funder Guidance: We help decipher Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and other funder guidance on data management to ensure your projects align with the expectations of your funding agency.
  • DMPTool: We offer assistance with DMPTool, an online resource to simplify the process of creating data management plans. Dartmouth customized templates are available for your use.
  • Data Curation: Our data curation services ensure your research data is organized, preserved, and accessible for current use and future discovery. Make an appointment for an individualized consultation.
  • Data Management Resources: We provide a plethora of resources to guide you through the process of data management, making it less overwhelming. Check out our Research Guide for more information.
  • Reproducible Research: We support your efforts in making your research reproducible, contributing to the transparency and credibility of your findings. Improve your research through customized workshops, consultations, and project research support.
  • Research Lifecycle Support From inception to completion, we're here throughout your research project's lifecycle, offering data management support at each stage.

Whatever your data needs are for your research projects, you can count on us to guide you through. Your research is important, and we're here to make sure your data is well-managed and compliant.

Data Repositories

Safeguarding your research data for long-term public access and re-use is crucial. We can guide you in utilizing world-class data repositories to ensure your valuable data is stored safely and optimally.

Leveraging these repositories not only secures your data but also enhances the transparency and replicability of your research, making it easier for you and others to build on the knowledge you've created.

Dartmouth Libraries recommend that you deposit your data in a discipline-specific repository for maximum impact and discoverability in your field. Often, funders and publishers have specific repositories they recommend to meet their requirements.

Always check with your funder or publisher for specific guidance before choosing a repository.

Dartmouth Supported Repositories

Dartmouth Dataverse:

A web-based, open-source institutional repository for the archiving, sharing, and accessing of Dartmouth’s research data. Dartmouth Dataverse offers robust data citation, versioning, and metadata standards, ensuring your research is not only preserved but easily discoverable and citable.

Ideal for researchers across various disciplines.

IEEE DataPort:

Designed for the engineering community, IEEE DataPort is a globally accessible repository that supports data storage, access, and protection. It also facilitates the analysis of large datasets and enables data and paper linking, enhancing the visibility and impact of your research.

Dartmouth’s subscription allows researchers to publish open-access datasets to DataPort.

Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR)

This social science repository provides access to a vast archive of social science data for research and instruction. By contributing to ICPSR, your data becomes part of a collection that spans generations of social science research.

Our subscription to ICPSR offers guidance and curation support for your data.
