Registrations, Refunds, & Cancellations

For Open Studios

No registration is required for Open Studio sessions. However, for non-students, there is a fee (see information on fees here). Your fee enables you to attend any Open Studio sessions offered during the academic term or year for which you pay. (See the academic calendar; see our Open Studio hours)

You have the option to cancel your Open Studio fee up to two weeks into the academic term. After that, your payment will not be refundable, and instead rolled into support for the Workshop as a whole. The last day to cancel for the Fall 2023 term is September 25.

For classes and events requiring registration

To participate in a class, participants must reserve their spot. To officially confirm your enrollment in a Library Book Arts Workshop (LBAW) class, the class fee must be paid in full at the Circulation Desk (open hours) in Berry Library by credit card or check only.

General info about class registration

Registration for a class always opens exactly 2 weeks before the class takes place. If the class is full, we recommend you join the waitlist. If someone enrolled for the class cancels their registration online, you will be notified via email that you have automatically been registered in their place.

If you can’t make it to a class that you signed up for, you MUST cancel your registration online. To cancel, simply search for the confirmation message that you received when you originally registered; a cancellation link is included. Our capacity is 6 people per letterpress class, and 8 per bookbinding class, and we often have many people on the waitlist. Please respect the time of both the instructors and potential attendees and update your online registration accordingly.

Registration Cancellation Policy

If a participant cancels 48 hours or more before the class begins, the full fee will be refunded. There is no refund if a cancellation is made within 48 hours before the class begins.

Class Cancellation Policy

Occasionally, the LBAW cancels a class or event due to bad weather or instructor absence. We will do our best to make a decision about canceling an event a few days before it begins. If the LBAW cancels a class or event requiring registration, participants will receive a complete fee refund.

Should a class or event need to be canceled, the LBAW will contact participants by email as soon as the decision is made.  Please be certain that you provide us with all necessary contact information when you enroll in a class. The LBAW also posts cancellations on our website and Instagram page, so please check these sites for current class information.

Working with instructors and students, the LBAW will do its best to reschedule a canceled class on the next available date. If for some reason a class is completely canceled, participants will receive a refund for the class.

COVID-19 Cancellation Policy

Participants in all classes are entitled to a full refund without penalties if you are unable to attend due to Covid-19, including sickness or exposure. Anyone wishing to receive a refund may contact us at book.arts@dartmouth.edu with the registrant’s name, email address and class title. A staff member will return your email as soon as possible.
