Research data is frequently useful beyond the aims of the original researcher. Safely storing and sharing your data allows researchers to reproduce and build upon your work.
ITS Solutions
ITS offers a comprehensive set of storage solutions in many models, each adapted to its own use cases and unique need.
Preservation for Long-Term Access
Preserving research data goes beyond data storage in a secure location. Sound data preservation practices ensure that your research data will be reusable by you and others in the future.
Dartmouth Policy on Data Retention
Dartmouth College has a comprehensive policy on data retention. Funding agencies can also have requirements, be sure to check. Please contact OSP, the Library, or email dartmouth.records.management@dartmouth.edu for specific advice on your project.
Subject Repositories
Your research data can be shared in a variety of ways, including as publication supplemental materials or in a repository. Consult a directory below to find a discipline specific repository.
General Repositories
General repositories can accept a wide variety of data and are a good choice if a subject repository is not available.
Additional Tools
DOIs are persistent identifiers that allow your datasets to be cited in a consistent manner to ensure correct attribution.
Dartmouth has an institutional account from EZID that makes it easy to mint DOIs with DataCite. Contact shawn.j.martin@dartmouth.edu if you are interested.
We are implementing a open source research data repository. Please contact shawn.j.martin@dartmouth.edu for more information.
