Still Standing is an amazing portrayal of strength, courage, and resilience of Pierre-Claver Mbonimpa, a Burundian human rights activist. It is a testimony of the power of humanity seen through Mbonimpa’s tenacious selflessness and his unending hope even in the darkest moments. Mbonimpa is such a big inspiration to me and his book is a constant reminder to fight for what we believe in regardless of the obstacles we encounter on the way. This is one of my favorite books and I hope that anyone interested in learning about Burundi gets to see this story of an exceptional humanist who has deeply marked the fight for human rights in Burundi.

I’m a Computer Science major with a minor in Geography, and I worked in Baker-Berry Library & Jones Media Center as a Circulation Student Assistant. After graduation I will be moving to Seattle to start a career in Software Engineering.

To my fellow students:

Practice finding joy in the small things & moments and appreciating the beauty of things around you. And remember to stay kind to yourself and to others.
